Back to School at MTSU
Within a short drive of our churches in the Concord Baptist Association is one of the most strategic places our churches can be! The campus of Middle Tennessee State University is home to over 20,000 college students from approximately 36 states and over 42 different countries. And YOUR CHURCH has a presence on the campus of MTSU every single day through the ministry of Baptist Collegiate Ministry.
Thank you for the Association’s significant support of BCM at MTSU! Through your contributions to the Concord Baptist Association, churches are assisting the work of evangelism, discipleship and missions in the lives of college students every single day. Tennessee Baptists BELIEVE that it’s crucial for our churches to have a presence on college campuses all over the state of Tennessee. Through the support of the Cooperative Program, the Golden Offering and direct gifts to the Association, your church is investing into the lives of college students and helping them understand and experience a deeper daily walk with Jesus.
The BCM focuses on three primary words in the work of the ministry on our campus. Connect. Pursue. Go. Our desire is to CONNECT with students wherever they are in their understanding of Jesus and help them find authentic community with other believers. Our ministry strives to help these students PURSUE an authentic relationship with Jesus and grow deeper in love with Him. And the goal is for these students to GO with intention while they are students on our campus and after they graduate. As these students leave our campus and fill the classrooms as teachers, provide our medical care, fly our planes, or serve in ministry around the world, they all go with intention of sharing the Good News of Jesus.
Your support of our ministry at MTSU is crucial! THANK YOU for giving to our ministry through the Concord Baptist Association!
This fall will look unlike any other semester we have ever seen. With the seriousness of COVID-19 pandemic in our community and on our campus, the BCM will be altering some of our normal activities for this semester and possibly the year. However, we believe that it’s important to help students find community on our campus and walk alongside them as they understand deeper what it means to be a disciple of Jesus. How we will be doing that may look a little different – but the goal never changes!
If your church has college students attending MTSU, please let us know. We want to connect with them and help them find community within our ministry on campus. Be talking about BCM with youth in your church, letting them know of the importance of finding a group of believers to connect with as college students.
Follow the BCM on social media through Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. Our social media posts are great ways to discover how to pray for our ministry and encourage students to join us in the events that go on at our building and on our campus.
Mark Whitt and Haley Cowley are YOUR MISSIONARIES on the campus of MTSU every day! We represent you at MTSU and want to connect you to students and students to you!
If you are interested in learning ways to partner with the BCM, please contact me at mwhitt@tnbaptist.org. There are numerous ways that your church could help us do what we do every day – from donating Pop-Tarts or water bottles for our Pop-Tart/Water handouts to discipling students that want a mentor to learn from!
THANK YOU for your support of our ministry at MTSU – I can never THANK YOU enough! Believe me – it TRULY MATTERS! Please be praying for God to do something AMAZING on our campus this school year! And as always…GO RAIDERS!
In Him,
Mark Whitt
